AWEAR: A Wearable For The Brain

Antonio Forenza lost 40 pounds via an Apple Watch and decided not to stop there, instead his mind wandered in search of new possibilities.

As he worked as the head of R&D at Rakuten Symphony, Antonio found out it was easier to get rid of extra pounds of flesh than to rid oneself of chronic stress.

That’s how the idea of AWEAR; a neurotechnology startup was conceived.

Forenza developed a wearable device likened to a "Fitbit for your brain" that uses EEG technology and AI to monitor brain activity and combat chronic stress.

He created the device to provide real-time insights into emotional well-being, filling a gap in consumer health wearables.

Device Technology

The AWEAR wearable employs electroencephalogram (EEG) sensors to detect electrical brain activity, combined with AI for emotion-aware tracking and personalized stress reduction recommendations.

Unlike fitness trackers focused on steps or calories, it targets mental load by quantifying stress levels, helping users like Forenza "lose 40 pounds of stress."

Imagine slipping it on during a tense meeting: the device vibrates softly, whispering through your phone, "Your frontal theta waves are spiking, try this 30-second reset."

Early users liken it to a "brain Fitbit," bridging the gap in consumer wearables that ignore cognitive health.

Backed by machine learning trained on vast EEG datasets, it adapts to your unique baseline, offering progress dashboards on stress reduction over weeks.

Background and Launch Plans

Forenza, a serial entrepreneur with 20+ years in telecom R&D, wireless tech, and over 250 patents, previously co-founded Artemis Networks and Rearden Labs, pioneering MIMO and 5G innovations.

AWEAR recently closed a seed round and plans a Kickstarter launch for customer acquisition and visibility, mirroring strategies of Peloton and Oura.
At the moment Stanford University’s psychiatry department is testing the device for the detection of confusion and disorientation in aged patients after surgery.

Forenza’s end goal is to sell AWEAR to individual consumers, (the similar approach taken by the Oura ring and other consumer wearables).

Final Thoughts

Chronic stress fuels loss of productivity and an increase in doctor visits.

While apps do help by offering tips, AWEAR goes beyond helpful suggestions, it provides proof through objective brain data empowering users to "hack" their mindset proactively.
Forenza's vision circles around mainstream neurotech, making EEG as universal as ECG.

As trials wrap and Kickstarter preps, AWEAR positions itself not just as a gadget, but a daily ally in the fight for mental resilience.
